Player Profile: Keven Pimentel, RHP, University of Tampa

Keven Pimentel is a 6’3 230 lb. right hander at the University of Tampa.  UT is ranked #2 in NCAA Div. II and Pimentel, a transfer from the University of Miami, made his debut against Bentley on 2/4/18.

Pimentel throws 3 pitches:  Fastball 88-91, Slider 81-83, and a Changeup 76-78.

Big bodied kid with projectable frame, 3/4 arm slot, falls to side.  Can add velo if he learns to use his lower half more efficiently.

Fastball has nice tail away from lefties.  Throws the fastball up and away to lefties.  Straightened out 2nd time through the order and if he leaves it up in the zone, will get hit hard.  At his best using movement and sink to induce ground balls.  50 grade FB

Change up has the promise to be a plus pitch with 15 mph differential off his fastball.  Has nice sink with good arm action. 50 grade CH.

Slider is flat and struggled to throw for strikes.  Did not induce many swings at slider.  45 grade.  Will need to improve in order to be effective 3rd-4th time through the lineup.

Good mixing of FB and change up against inferior opponent.  Threw 48 pitches – 31 for strikes.  FB had a lot of life in 1st 2 innings and induced weak contact.

Threw 4 IP, 3H 0 ER, 1 BB, 5K.  Struck out side in 1st.
